Cause for Paws is an initiative by Nisha and Ekta. The two came together in 2015 with a common passion for wanting to help street animals. They hosted a fund raising running event last year and successfully raised over 1 lakh rupees, which was utilized to sterilize around 100 stray dogs in Gurgaon. However, they have a long way to ensure that all the street dogs in Gurgaon are happy, healthy, and neutered.
And here’ what Nisha and Ekta have to say about their Cause (for Paws!):
It is very disheartening to see so many injured and starved stray dogs on the streets of Gurgaon. Most of them are either hit by cars or starved to death. We feel there is a huge need to spread awareness about the plight of these animals and to control their population. For this purpose, we have partnered with Friendicoes SECA to fulfill our goal.
Sterilization is the ONLY humane way to put an end to this and control dog population. We would like to emphasize that sterilization not only controls reproduction, but also leads to better behaved and docile animals. Since they are also vaccinated, the make safer pets and instances of rabies also reduce. As a community service, we would like to cover larger areas in Gurgaon, but as were are lacking ongoing funding, we are unable to fulfill our target. As part of our ongoing endeavor, we would like to get a minimum of 100 dogs sterilized within the next three months.
Since the sterilization fee for one dog is Rs 1,000, we would need at least 1 lakh rupees to fulfill our goal.
Since we feel very strongly about this cause and are dedicated to serving street animals, we would request all of you to please wholeheartedly come forward and support us in our endeavor. This will be an ongoing effort, and even if we are unable to meet our campaign target, we will still pursue our passion and try and help as many animals as we can. As part of our fundraising initiative, you could also support us through our upcoming event here:
We sincerely hope that you help us in saving thousands of innocent lives. Let’s be the voice of the voiceless.
