Nippon Toyota Launches ‘Safety Model School’ In Kochi

New Delhi (January 18, 2016): Nippon Toyota in collaboration with Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced the inauguration of its first of its kind “Safety Model School” project in Kerala at Rajagiri Public School, Kochi. The new program is a pilot project of “Team Toyota India” an entity formed by TKM along with dealer and supplier partners to contribute to the society in the best way possible. The ‘Safety Model School’ project aims to educate and sensitize school children, teachers, parents and school bus drivers on responsible safety habits and ensure a safer traffic environment for the next generation. Team Toyota India works with the mission to create a better India and a better earth for all. It works as one team with one goal along with all business partners in each region with their employees and families.

Nippon Toyota has owned the responsibility to enhance the road safety conditions in Kochi as a part of Team Toyota activity. The newly launched “Safety Model School” a comprehensive safety program has been initiated by Nippon Toyota reinforcing its safety commitment. The program is aimed at creating Safety Ambassadors in schools by creating Safety zone within school, Toyota Safety Education Program, Evaluation of school buses & training of bus drivers and Creation of safety group in the school. 

This initiative will comprise of four phases: Firstly, Safety zone will be created within the school campus of Rajagiri Public School, it will include speed breakers, zebra crossings, road lane markings and sign boards. Children will be educated on the importance of road safety signals, following the right safety behavior, adhering to traffic rules, causes of accidents. To further expand road safety education in a sustainable manner, Toyota Safety Education Program, an interactive learning program will be implemented in the school, which is designed especially for young school children to create strong safety sense. Towards achieving the safest commute for the children to and from school, school buses will be inspected, and drivers will be trained on safe driving practices and certified. Safety groups will be formed involving representatives from student council and Parents Teacher Association for to spread the safety awareness wider and make it more impactful through role models. This “Safety Group” will be responsible for sustaining all safety related activities inside the campus.

Children are often the victims of the traffic violations and accidents. With the launch of “Safety Model School” at Rajagiri Public School we aim to inculcate responsible road safety behavior in the school children. We would like to educate the young school children about the importance of road safety and bring in a constructive change in the society”

In line with the vision 'Safest Car with Safest Driver’, Nippon Toyota also partnered with Toyota Kirloskar Motor to launch the first Toyota Driving School in India at Kochi. It has been consistently engaged in Road Safety initiatives as a safety ambassador in Kerala.

In the past Nippon Toyota also supported 'Pappu Zebra Road Sense’ an initiative undertaken by Kerala Traffic Police to create widespread awareness amongst adults and children on road safety sense and make the roads of Kerala more safer for all.
