Experience 'The Joy Of Giving', Empower Women Entrepreneurs With Micro-Loans

The 'Power Of One' Campaign leverages power of crowdfunding to raise affordable micro-loans for women from low-income, rural families empowering them to start or scale up their livelihood activities.

OnePlus, a global technology startup, and RangDe.org, an internet-based peer-to-peer micro-lending organization, have announced the ‘Power of One’ initiative to empower women entrepreneurs on the occasion of the Joy of Giving Week, starting Oct 5. The campaign leverages power of crowdfunding to raise affordable micro-loans for women from low-income, rural families empowering them to start or scale up their livelihood activities.

The ‘Power of One’ represents the power of the OnePlus fans community. Millions of OnePlus fans will come together to positively impact the lives of hundreds of India’ lesser privileged women across the country in their quest to fulfill their aspirations of being independent and thereby having a better chance of securing their future.

Ramakrishna NK, Co-founder and CEO, Rang De says “At Rang De we believe that poverty needs to be addressed with a sense of urgency. The team at Rang De and our social investor community will never settle unless we make a breakthrough here. We found in OnePlus a fantastic alignment of values and we are so grateful for this partnership.”

Vikas Agarwal, General Manager - India, OnePlus, said “OnePlus has always been a brand that is inspired and driven by its community. It is the power of our community and their support that has helped us reach where we are today, just over a span of 9 months in India. The ‘Power of One’ initiative is an innovative attempt to spread awareness and support women entrepreneurs as they strive to make a difference to their own and their families’ lives.”

Inspired by OnePlus’ belief that ‘great things should be shared’, this campaign enables a socially-conscious individual to give these women an alternative to high-interest, exploitative loans.  Rang De encourages people to set aside a small portion of their disposable incomes to make social change by investing in people.  When done on a regular basis, the ‘social investor’ is able to impact several hundred lives each year. And unlike charity, these microloans enable Rang De borrowers to access opportunities for a better future while establishing their creditworthiness.

During the Joy of Giving Week (October 5th to 10th), 25 lucky ‘social investors’ will be selected each day and awarded a OnePlus 2 invite.  In addition, invites will also be given to top 250 contributors who have made the highest amount of ‘social investment’ at the end of the campaign.
