Cooper Corporation Stepping Up CSR Efforts!

The Cooper Corporation played a crucial role in Satara's economic and social growth dating back to 1922. The historic town of Satara has been constantly witnessing a new wave of industrialisation since its inception. As a responsible entity and continuing its commitment towards supporting government efforts to address COVID-19, Cooper Corporation, one of the leading manufacturers of engines, auto components and gensets, has been actively engaged with local authorities to revive Satara from the impact of the COVID-19.

The company has been involved in the fight against the pandemic in several ways. It has initiated a drive to distribute more than 15,000 “Mask Booklets” in Marathi language on ‘How to make mask at home’ in association with Satara Zilla Parishad for health workers. In collaboration with Satara Municipal council, it conducted a 30 full days sanitizing drive across all parts of Satara town, MIDC Satara, Waduj, Pusegaon & Palasi.

Another key concern area was the frontline warriors like police officers who had been affected by the corona virus. To address the issue Cooper Corporation partnered with Satara Police to distribute full body protection COVID 19 PPE kit, Infra Thermometer, Face shields and medication. The company also provided high-end ventilator support to civil hospitals through the Grant Medical Foundation, Pune, with the objective of strengthening the medical infrastructure in Satara.

Expressing his view Mr. Farrokh Cooper, Chairman and Managing Director, Cooper Corporation, said, “The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in India have been far-reaching and calamitous to poor populations. It is important that we step up our efforts during these times. We at Cooper Corporation are committed to continuing our support for the government, with a key focus on strengthening the overall healthcare infrastructure, in order to save our nation from this pandemic. With the slew of social initiatives across the city to curtail the rise in the number of cases, we have significantly increased our on-the-ground activities to bring relief to COVID Warriors around the region. Likewise, we are honored to obtain this assistance from Satara Zilla Parishad, Municipal Council of Satara, Grant Medical Foundation, Pune for their help for citizens' welfare”.

The company also distributed essential food products to migrant workers, poor families, and daily wagers of Kodoli village and Karad town. In addition, 3000 cotton masks were distributed to workmen / community and food items were provided to Vaidik Dharma Samvardhini Sabha, Satara.

Besides, company has distributed more than 4000 doses of Camphor0-1 homeopathic tablets to its employees and to the community around. It has also distributed 2000 Ayush Kwath immunity building tablet containers.

Today, Cooper Corporation employs more than 3000 people and staff is closely monitored for their health, as their safety and well-being are of paramount importance. The COVId19 preventive measures have been implemented through a detailed procedural manual and shop-floor trainings. The staff have been trained to always wear safety protective gear and use the Aarogya Setu app to track their health status. Precautions like use of mask, social distancing and hand sanitisation have become habits. The most important priority is the sanitisation of the vicinity and the products. The factory has been disinfected at regular intervals with the availability of hand sanitisers at multiple locations in the facility.
